My Spartan…19 days and counting

19 days ago, Kelly went in for a simple bone spur removal. Today, he is recovering from surgery number three and a forefoot amputation.

Surgery lasted just under an hour and he was in recovery just over an hour. Our doctor is very pleased with the results.  Every step of the way, God has guided and blessed this journey.

Before surgery began, Steve and Cecil, the other two elders from church, came to Kelly and prayed along with our family and another friend.  This prayer calmed our spirits and put our focus where it needed to be.

Kelly has been saying that he’s ready to hit bottom so we can start the climb up.  We both know there will be tough days ahead and it’s going to be hard, but bottom has been hit…it’s time to start the climb.

The physical therapist has done preliminary work with Kelly.  She is thrilled with his strength and physical condition.  According to her “this will be a piece of cake”.  The nurses are also very happy with what he can do and his attitude.  About 7 hours after the surgery he was walking with crutches or a walker.  He always has been a physical overachiever .  😉

We serve a mighty, gracious and powerful God.  A God who uses calves to show you cancer, doctors to show you solutions, and friends to encourage you, fill you with hope, and love you more than you could ever have dreamed.

19 days…count your blessings…you never know what the future holds.

  3. We are so happy that Kelly’s surgery went well and that the doctors are happy. Many prayers have been sent Heavenward and many more will continue to be sent to God.
    Thank you for the updates.

  4. Thinking about and praying for y’all daily. So thankful for the strength that God has supplied, both physically and spiritually. Simply amazing to me that he has already been up and mobile. Praises, as Kelly always tells me in our text messages. God bless.

    • He’s doing well. The recliner is his best friend right now. Pain is minimal which is wonderful! Luckily Kelly can work from home so that has kept him occupied during the day. Another week and his leg can be down more…that will be great. Lee Ann
